Hey! It's been a while.. Been working hard, so I haven't had much time to do my own stuff. Here is a quick Flash BG I did.

True story: This image started off as an image of a cigarette. How did I get to this? Well, I intended to make the windows panels on a wall. I had a table drawn in, but then decided to make it a floor, then finally just took it out all together. I think it looks better with no real definition to what's inside the room we are in.

This Picture I Did

Here's a picture I did. I just took an old illustration I did in Flash and fixed it up a bit. I'm using this bad boy for my totally sweet Twitter icon now.

Back To School

I was playing around in Flash and did this. I wanted to try doing something similar to a little bit of animation my buddy Pat did, so I came up with a little chalkboard drawing. Very, very simple. Then I wanted to get a nice lighting effect on it. So here we go. I was having trouble uploading the .swf file, so here it is in glorious Blogger video.

TCC Banner!

Heya! So, I made this banner to prove that I know how to make banners. Hurray!

Click on it, it works too! I did a little bit of Action Script on it too!

This came to me this morning. I had done the background in Photoshop a few days ago. It was another attempt to make something abstract out of a photo and maximum blurs. Today I decided I wanted to do a monochromatic character standing in that pose. The idea of a robber just kinda came to me. So there it is!

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Hi again. Twice in a week eh? Nice.

So I was playing around in Photoshop, just messing around with blurs and blending styles. I was using a photo of my woman and my cat and just kept applying and tweaking things. This is the result. My dad actually has place-mats that look similar to this. I like how it's got a nice cool feel, almost like dusk. Or twilight, but not that awful book / movie series.

Here's a scene from my short. I finally finished the boards, so now I need to record a scratch track. Then it's time to party! I mean... It will be time to cut together an animatic. I can't wait!

Lots o' Trolls

So, I needed to do a troll design for my short. Here are a bunch of them. They are all very rough, but it shows a wide variety of directions I tried out. Enjoy!

This is the final design. For now.

Quick Set O' Trees

Quick update today. Got on the subject of birch trees, so I did a lil' comp of them.

I love quick comps!

Just a quickie today.

Here is a city image I did yesterday morning. It is essentially my attempt to sort of recreate a city image I saw in one of the ending themes to an old anime I like. You can see the original here. The city image comes in about 58 seconds in. I used pretty much the same colors but I did simplify it a bit. I always really liked the image, the very graphic style, and the colors.... So this is my tribute to whoever came up with that shot!

With The Rains Came The Wolves...

So I had this dream last night. It was a thematically recurring dream where I am desperately trying to get to work, but I just can't. I'm already late, I have no clothes to wear, no way of getting there, people keep distracting me. And in this case, it is raining very hard. Like, The Deluge hard. Needless to say, the tone of the dream was pretty bleak.

So, towards the end, before I woke up, I was walking up to my building, with this guy and this girl. The guy went on ahead, while the girl said she would wait for us outside. As I'm leaving, I hear the howls of wolves, and I turn to see two wolves slowly patrolling in the heavy rains. They weren't normal wolves though. They were much bigger, and their necks were a little more elongated.

That's about the time I woke up. It was pretty nightmarish. So here is a quick piece I put together, hopefully giving off the sense of dread I had in the dream. Enjoy!

Hi! Been a while, I know. I've been busy with multiple projects going on at two different jobs, so... I kinda slacked off on my stuff. But I'm back!

Here's a series of tree sketches I did last night, just to try to get a feel for art direction for... Trees. I did a quick color job on them in Photoshop to make them a little nicer to look at. Enjoy!

See ya soon!

Don't Worry, Be Char-y!

More Gundam fan art stuff today. I don't know why I thought this would be a good idea, but I think it's kinda funny. Why let life get you down when you can put Char's helmet on and be happy?

One More Quickie

Hi again!

Here's a quick sketch of, I guess, a football player, or something along those lines. I like how raw it is, but I'm considering adding to it. Maybe coloring it. Not sure yet.

I just love quickies! Getting it down on the page quickly, without laboring over details is the best!

Quick Landscape

Hey all.

It's been a while, but today I bring you another one hour landscape. I really enjoy doing these. I just have to find something other than trees to paint!

Quick Sketch

Here's a quick little image I did of a Kasa Obake, an umbrella spirit in Japanese folklore. I like them.

Technicolor Commentary

Hey all.

A few of us have banded together to create a podcast called Technicolor Commentary. It's a superfluous cornucopia of delightful musings and boundless insight from a trinity of film education alumni. Read: We watch movies and talk about them. And about other stuff.

The site dedicated to TCC will be coming very soon, and I will link to it so you can hear all about our opinions on such films as.... Naw, I won't spoil it for you!

Autumn Treetop Concept

Hi again!

Just another quick concept. I always like compositions where the sky takes up most of the frame.

Landscape Concept

Yo yo yo.

Here's a quick concept I did in Photoshop. Just trying to get a feel for it.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Just a quick piggy I drew. Sketched it out on a notepad then just put it together in Flash. Hooray!

Here is a painting I did in Photoshop. Initially it was not going to be so dark, but as I worked on it, it seemed to lend itself better to being dark and creepy. Upon looking at the finished piece, I almost feel like I shouldn't have put the mouth in, but ah well.
